What does it mean to be a SAGA Certified Guide - being a SAGA Certified Guide means that a person has successfully passed the 3 qualifying examinations that demonstrate their competencies in the areas of Georgian History & Culture, Guiding Skills & Communication, and Tour Planning. The three exams include a practical walking tour (conducted on the foreign language chosen by a candidate), written examination, and transportation tour (conducted on the foreign language chosen by a candidate) exam. The SAGA Certification currently represents the highest level of certification that a guide can obtain in Georgia
How do I become a SAGA Certified Guide? -All guides working throughout Georgia are eligible for membership with the Georgian Association of Guides. In order to become a SAGA Certified Guide, you will need to pass the 3 examinations which demonstrate your competencies as a guide. After successfully passing the exams, you must complete a membership application to get your profile uploaded on the website and obtain a guide badge. The member is required to pay an annual membership fee, which is due from the next membership year's due date (October 1) and is also 250 GEL.

The Cultour Card is personal and is valid only when presented with an active card issued by SAGA.

If you are unable to pass the certifying examinations, it’s recommended that you attend tour guiding courses in order to improve your knowledge and skills as a guide. The association is partnered with Newkaz Tourism Academy guiding school, which offers training modules led by local professionals and World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations accredited National Trainers. After improving your knowledge of the profession, you can once again apply to take the examinations. Re-replaying for the exam session is free of charge and considered re-passing only those specific exam/exams that candidate has failed previously.
